![]() |
Organized in the spring of 1983, the Los Angeles Baroque Players is widely recognized as an important early music ensemble. Each member of the group is a virtuoso performer, while as an ensemble they share a dedication to bringing their audiences definitive performances of Baroque music.
Their musical style, elegance, warmth, vigor, transparency of sound, variety of musical color and technical command taken together add up to performances that have captivated audiences on both the east and west coasts of the United States and Mexico.

Praise for LABP
". . . the Los Angeles Baroque Players. . . rejoice in every nuance of expression with perfectly matched energy and elegance.
. . .possess a genuine sentiment and a total identification with the idiom which even surpasses the informed and stylish readings one expects.
The trasparent, well-balanced sound reveals the vibrancy of the instruments and the purity of the intonation with immediate impact."

". . . very enjoyable listening. I especially enjoyed the excellent transcription by Wm Neil Roberts of the Bach Organ Trio Sonata. . .
. . . the flute playing of Anthony Brazier is eloquenty beautiful."

"The Los Angeles Baroque Players demonstrate elegance, taste, and refinement in this new issue of high-baroque music for chamber ensemble. In particular, the arrangement by harpsichordist, Wm Neil Roberts of one of Bach's organ trio sonatas exempifies the sort of conversational repartee of the wittiest salons of the time, a thing sorely lacking in most organ performances of this repertoire.
Intonation, ensembe, rhythmic sense are throughout on the highest level.
A delightful recording!"
